Today's class was focused on examining key elements and terms related to colonialism in Canada, decolonization and how can we engage in the journey towards truth and reconciliation. Guided notes and key terms will be posted in Teams. Please familiarize yourself with these foundational elements. Below are a couple of the videos we screened in class. In recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation the following opportunity is available. You are encouraged to reflect on the truth of our history in Canada and how we can all be agents for reconciliation.

Welcome to our Social Justice class blog! This is the space where I will post links to topics and issues discussed in class, along with relevant summaries of items discussed and reminders of assignment due dates and upcoming events.
I am excited at the potential of this group. As we begin to dive deeper into social justice issues, we will spend some time getting to know one another and examining the diversity of backgrounds and perspectives that exist in this group. Recognizing that we view social justice issues through the lens of our own experience, we will be spending some time to start the year examining backgrounds, biases and beliefs. Your participation in class is vital and will help create a much richer and engaging learning environment. |
